San Diego - boats, airplanes, bridges and sand

Day 3 started with a trip to USS Midway aircraft carrier. Very educational and cool. Of course Doug was pleased as punch to see a Birddog (the first tail dragger he ever flew) and his favorite fighter jet the f19 (we will see if I got that right.

It was a great view from the flight deck of Coronado Bridge and all of sunny San Diego.

After lunch on board we went down below and saw some of the accommodations and inner workings. Pretty amazing to think what those men an women live in and do day in and day out. We thought of our friends and family who were navy and spent time on one of these floating cities.

Auggie enjoyed hanging in some of the cockpits- he loves buttons.

Afterward we had a sleepy boy and just drove around while he slept. We scoped out Balboa Park and drive over to Coronado where we definitely plan to spend more time.

A quick trip home to gather some beach items and we went to Cabrillo National Monument. The view was amazing. We could see fighter jets taking off from Coronado and the beauty of the ocean and the bay. We were going to check out the tide pools but the walk down and around on the rocks would have been a bit much for Auggie.

We finished our day at ocean beach. Auggie played in (and ate) sand. He giggled at the waves lapping up around his legs. We had so much fun. You'll have to wait for other pics because my phone was in the car.
