San Diego - Beach towns and Shamu

After some much needed rest we got going fairly early...time change challenges.

We enjoyed a diner breakfast at old townhouse cafe on newport avenue in ocean beach. The decor seems original and the pancakes met auggies seal of approval. After breakfast we strolled along in this quaint beach town until hitting the pier. We watched the surfers and fishermen while enjoying pelicans and monstrous seagulls, Auggie got his first look at the beach and could not stop talking about all the "fishies" in the water.

A trip to the grocery store and a snack before we headed to the house Shamu built.

We arrived just in time for shamus show. We sat in the "soak zone" though not a drop of water hit us. I was bummed, Doug was relieved. Auggie was a little restless but once the stars of the show started doing their thing, he took it all in.

After shamu we enjoyed all that sea world had to offer. The sesame street play area was a hit and Auggie met Elmo!

Sea turtles were amazing! Penguins were cool as cucumbers and we actually saw a tortoise up close and personal...except Auggie was passed out so he missed it.

We grabbed dinner from a drive thru Mexican joint which at first thought was questionable but the food was amazing!

More relaxation is on the agenda.
