Super virus = Super Christmas

We started our Christmas season right! Breakfast with Santa at church, trips to the mall with daycare, watching the Polar Express at the Arcada Theater and visiting family in Cleveland....all was going as planned.

The ice cream on top was our first big shindig at our house hosting friends. The Saturday before Christmas friends and their families converged to enjoy potluck, cheese fondue, a visit from Santa and general merriment. All went well that night, but shortly after we began to not feel well and also heard from many guests of the same woes. Auggie was worst in our family, followed by Doug then me. The bug really settled in on Christmas Eve. Rose (Doug's mom) still risked exposure and came over to spend time with us. I made homemade cavatellis, sauce and meatballs. Auggie had no appetite so he was walking around and playing, etc when he decided to lay down on the floor behind Doug's chair and sleep. Poor thing.

So began our Christmas. We sort of cleaned up and went straight to bed. The next morning, Christmas Day, our enthusiasm to see Santa's surprises was nil. Around 10:30 we managed to check things out and enjoyed all that Santa brought. Auggie, unfortunately was very lethargic, though I think the process of tearing open giftwrap helped boost his energy a little.

After that, we rested the remainder of the day, stopping only to FaceTime with Doug's sister and family and my brother and family.

Wednesday seemed to have rejuvenated us. Well, most of us. Auggie was still pretty congested and running a fever. Doug and I were on the mend though.

Thursday morning, Auggie was still having serious respiratory issues from what we could tell- so off to the doctor we went and boy are we glad we did. Borderline ear infection and fluid build up on one lung - borderline pneumonia. High dose antibiotics were in order. So now it's two days later and he really seems to be doing better. Coughing yes, fever no.

Alas, not quite how we expected it to go. However, this week of close knit family time reminded me that I have the right partner and an amazing sweet boy even when sickly. It also reminded me that we have a near two year old who can no longer hit up target without completely flipping his lid for toys and saying "mine!" Yes, that was our desperate outing to counteract the cabin fever.

Christmas Eve circa 5am. Me and Auggie sleeping on family room floor with towels and buckets. Love the uVerse fireplace station.

Finally used Mom's Christmas dishes on Christmas Eve.

The first toy he actually went played with wasn't from Santa. Grandmas Kathy sent the fisher price airport!

Mid-present napping. It's hard work, but someone's got to do it.

Watching daddy play with his rc helicopter.

Hoping you all had a wonderful Christmas!
